Offer suggestions for alternative behaviours that would be more acceptable to you. For example, “It would be helpful if you could notify me in advance if you’re running late.”

Reinforce Boundaries Consistently:

Consistency is key to reinforcing boundaries and preventing the recurrence of irritating behaviour. If the person continues to exhibit the behaviour despite your initial conversation, calmly and assertively remind them of the boundaries you’ve set. Be firm in enforcing consequences if necessary, but also be open to revisiting the conversation and adjusting boundaries as needed.
